    ANOGYRA VILLAGE

    Anogyra Village is a picturesque spot situated on the Southern slopes of the Troodos massif, overlooking the bay of Pissouri, just a few kilometers off the Lemessos-Pafos highway. For centuries this village is surrounded by carob orchards, and is best known for its unique carob based all natural products, such as pasteli, known for their high nutritional value. Known as the “Black Gold” of Cyprus, has fed thousands of children during the 2nd World war.

    Halloumi cheese is considered the pre-eminent Cypriot cheese product. A hand written document of 1556 by the Doge Leonardo Dona, testifies that the famous Cyprus cheese was known before the conquest of the island by the Turks in 1571. The owner of the workshop is ready to demonstrate us the traditional method of production, and enjoy a rich breakfast with fresh dairy products.

The Olive Oil Museum, unique in Cyprus, features olive oil extraction methods of the past (millstone, olive press) and various items related to the storage and uses of the olive oil as well as its history.

    The winery Domaine Nicolaides is situated at Anogyra, a picturesque village close to Lemesos, a vinicultural area where the earliest Cypriot wine varieties were planted. It’sexistence is wholly linked up with the land's tradition as well as with family tradition. For more than three generations is irretrievably linked with the art of the wine industry, which maintains, promotes and upgrades throughout the years. When inspiration combined with passion, taste, experience,and the scientific knowledge, the outcome cannot produce other than quality wines. We will be hosted by a real boutique winery of Cyprus for a memorable tour and taste of the award-winning wines produced by cosmopolitan grape varieties.
